Bill Daughtridge
2008 REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE for North Carolina Treasurer


Bill Daughtridge is president of Daughtridge Gas & Oil Company of Rocky Mount and Daughtridge Gas Company of Greenville. These companies provide propane and fuel oil for residential, commercial, and agricultural customers in the Rocky Mount, Roanoke Rapids, and Greenville areas; operate two Dunkin Donut stores and thirteen Fuel DOC convenience stores in Eastern North Carolina, an Auto Care Express Mall and an express lube facility in Rocky Mount; and a tobacco barn parts facility also in Rocky Mount.
 
Daughtridge, a Morehead Scholar, graduated as a Phi Beta Kappa with a BS and MBA from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. He then worked for Continental Oil Company in Houston, Texas as a financial analyst and engineer. He returned to North Carolina and joined the family-operated business in 1979, which was founded by his grandfather in 1929.
 
Daughtridge is serving his third term in the North Carolina House of Representatives – District 25 in Eastern North Carolina. He serves as co-chair of the House Commerce Committee for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. In 2004, the North Carolina Electronics and Information Technologies Association (NCEITA) recognized Representative Daughtridge for outstanding leadership by a legislator.

Representative Daughtridge serves on the Defense and Security Technology Accelerator Advisory Committee, a program established through NCTA, that is designed to create collaborations with the military, security experts, entrepreneurs and innovators that will drive technology business development, technology commercialization, and job creation.
 
Representative Daughtridge has focused his efforts on fostering economic growth and development. He was appointed co-chair to the Joint Select Committee on Economic Growth and Development and to serve on the Joint Select Committee on Small Business Economic Development. He currently serves as vice chairman of the Southern Legislative Conference’s Economic Development, Transportation, and Cultural Affairs Committee. Representative Daughtridge is a 2002 graduate of the Institute of Political Leadership.
 
Daughtridge has served as president of Area Seven (Virginia and N.C.) on the Southern Region Board of Directors for the Boy Scouts of America. He is a past member of the North Carolina Travel and Tourism Board, the Nash County Board of Travel & Tourism, Carolinas Gateway Partnership, and the Rocky Mount Community Foundation. Daughtridge is past president of the North Carolina Petroleum Marketers Association, has served on the Board of Directors of the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce, as treasurer for Tri-County Industries, and past president of the Rocky Mount Area United Way.
