Ginny Smith - Mrs. Fred J.
Smith, Jr.
Ginny is very active in many groups and organizations including The Womans Club of Clayton, where she has served as President and received the Clubwoman of the Year award. She received the General Federated Womans Club of North Carolina award as Clubwoman of the Year for the State of North Carolina for her club work in 2006. Other activities include: The Johnston County Arts Council, where she has served as president, board member, and currently serves as 2nd Vice President and Artists-in-the-Schools Coordinator; NC Museum of History Johnston County Board member; and former Board and Program Chairman for Clayton High School PTSA. Ginny is an active member of First Baptist Church of Clayton where she serves as a Choir member; Piano Accompanist and Soloist. She has been an Acteens Leader; Bible School Music Leader; Youth Leader and has served on the Music, Family Life, and Outreach committees. She helped the church start their National Day of Prayer breakfast. In 2003, Ginny founded the Riverwood Cultural Arts Center, which provides the children of Johnston and Wake counties with many opportunities to pursue their creativity and arts interests. Through the Riverwood Cultural Arts Center, a wide variety of programs are available, including dance, voice, music, piano and guitar lessons, as well as visual arts classes. Of all her many accomplishments, the thing she is most proud of is her family. There is nothing she would rather do than spend time with her husband, Fred and their five children and their spouses: Heather and David Smithdeal, Jule and Alisa Smith, Amber and Jake Austin, Duval Smith and Reid and Jaclyn Smith; and their seven grandchildren Grant, Andrew, Mary Stanford, and Anna Grace Austin and Ardyn, Lila, and Julius Smith. |
